What is his net worth?

It has been announced that Britain’s richest man, Jim Ratcliffe, is keen to buy Manchester United.

United fans are growing weary of their current owners, the Glazer family.

And now Ratcliffe, who has been a lifelong United fan, has confirmed he wants to take ownership of the club.

Ratcliffe wants to buy a stake in the club with a view to taking full control if the Glazers wish to sell.

“If the club is for sale, Jim is definitely a potential buyer,” said one of Ratcliffe’s spokesmen. The temperature. “If something like this were possible, we would be interested in discussing long-term ownership.

“It’s not about money spent or not spent. Jim examines what can be done now, and knowing how important the club is to the city, it seems like the time has come for a reset. »

Ratcliffe is the chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of chemicals group Ineos, which he founded in 1998.

According to Forbes, according to the Mirror, Ratcliffe was named the 113th richest person in the world in 2021, with a net worth of £12.58billion.

Goal journalist James Robson revealed that the Glazers would like around £6billion to sell United. That probably wouldn’t be a problem for Ratcliffe.

Ratcliffe already owns a number of football clubs. In 2017, he became the owner of FC Lausanne-Sport, a Swiss Super League football club.

In 2019, he completed a €100m takeover of Ligue 1 club OGC Nice.

He made a £4.25million bid to buy Chelsea in April 2022, but his bid fell through.

In May, Ratcliffe admitted he was a United fan but was a season ticket holder at Chelsea.

“I have a house in Chelsea, I have lived in Chelsea for many years, I have had a season ticket for many years, I have a business based in Chelsea,” he told the BBC.

“Then if you look at the bigger picture of football – football is the biggest sport in the world, the British league is the biggest league in the world and Chelsea are one of the best clubs in that league.

“When I lived in London for many years, I could go to see Chelsea. It was quite difficult going to see United, so I have mixed loyalties.

Whether he pursues his interest and is able to persuade the Glazers to relinquish control of United remains to be seen.
