IMPACT to accept home energy assistance program applications for low-income people – Newton Daily News

The IMPACT Community Action Partnership will be accepting applications for the 2021-2022 Low-Income Household Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) starting October 1. Households with members aged 60 or over / disabled can apply from October 1 to April 30. Applications for all other households will be accepted from November 1st.

IMPACT offices are still closed to the public due to public health concerns related to COVID-19. Families in Boone, Jasper, Marion, Polk or Warren counties interested in applying for LIHEAP should call 515-518-4770 to make a phone appointment or visit our website at impactcap.org/energy-assistance. During their telephone appointment, applicants will be required to provide proof of identity, a copy of their most recent heating and electricity bill, a Social Security or I-94 card, and proof of gross income for all household members for the last 30 days, the most recent 12 months, or for the last calendar year.

This assistance is based on household income, household size, type of fuel and other factors. The maximum income eligible for participation is established in accordance with the following federal income guidelines:

Household size – Annual gross income * **

1 – $ 25,760; 2 – $ 34,840; 3 – $ 43,920; 4 – $ 53,000; $ 5 – $ 62,080; 6 – $ 71,160; 7 – $ 80,240; 8 – 89,320 $

* For households with more than eight members, add $ 9,080 for each additional member.

** All income will be annualized. Income will be collected for a period of 30 days.

The program is funded by the Department of Health and Human Services through the Iowa Department of Human Rights / DCAA, and was created to help qualify Iowa as low income.
owners and tenants pay part of their primary heating costs. This program is not designed to pay the full cost of energy for a household. The program will provide additional assistance based on several factors including household income, household size, type of dwelling and type of fuel used to heat the house.
